Learning to be Fully Present to Your Life in the Moment

  • Karen Vandiver created the Mindful  Meditation Training Institute as an integration of strategic and  systemic philosophy resulting in the healing of opposites   It  balances Jungian Psychology with Eastern Practices which recognize the energy or chi involved.  It echoes Jungian integration of opposites that eliminates duality in favor of wholeness and inclusiveness.   Karen  has published articles  utilizing these ideas from current research providing conclusive fact for neuronal activity in the brain.


  • This system recognizes different "states of consciousness."   Then retreats in the desert  provide the importance of pure silence like the desert or wilderness not decorated by a lush landscape, but by the pureness of being, nothingness, & silence.   By the same token, the setting of silence on oceanfront retreats symbolize the ability to remain unmoved by the huge waves and tides, remaining in pure silence and focused on being fully present within.


  • To know the whole spectrum requires meditation on pure love, nothingness, and being so that you can identify the lack of it and find balance between the two dual perspectives.


  • Developing a mindful meditation practice requires discipline, respect, and love leading to a deep sense of compassion for all of life. Group practice provides group support. Judgement is replaced with understanding.  An all or nothing perspective is replaced with a full spectrum of options. You are no longer relegated to only the past and future, but a perspective that is all inclusive just by being in the present moment which meditation allows. 


  • Studying  and practicing meditation with a neurologist for many years led me to silent retreats  in the desert and  later on, the ocean front.  It was an incredible journey that I will never forget which I look forward to sharing with those interested in learning this path. 


  • Science now tells us that meditation leads to new neuronal activity resulting in new brain cells that may also result in healing trauma in the organs as well.    Meditation addresses the whole system.   The brain and now, possibly the body,   have the capacity for healing through the neuronal network.
